A Personal Message:

Hello and welcome!  As a certified trauma and resilience life coach, I’m excited to launch Blooming Lotus, my business and website for individuals seeking healing and resilience through life’s challenges.  Each month I will regularly launch blog posts based on topic needs, that will include educational content, inspirational stories or quotes, helpful tips and/or community resources. As the program expands, I will incorporate additional highlights and topics as they become relevant. This work has been a work in progress and I’m excited to share a little about myself and my journey to becoming a life coach in upcoming posts.

What is Trauma?

Trauma is a word that most everyone knows, but trying to navigate through a traumatic experience or a series of experiences can be both difficult and isolating. One can experience trauma by encountering experiences that create intense stress, fear that can feel hard to manage . It can result from a singular event or from prolonged exposure to challenging circumstances. When multiple traumas or more than one trauma occurs it is called complex trauma and it is not uncommon that someone can be trying to navigate multiple traumatic situations all at one time.  A person can be affected by one of the individual occurrences of trauma or by multiple incidents.

Trauma can occur in various ways, including but not limited to the following:

- Experiencing emotional, psychological or physical harm

- Experiencing racism

- Experiencing homophobia

- Experiencing marginalization based on but not limited to race, sexual identity, sexual preference, ethnicity, social class, disability, age or gender.

- Witnessing harm inflicted onto others

- Existing in a traumatic environment

- Experiencing the effects of trauma within a family, community, institution, or society.

- Experiencing the harmful effects of intergenerational trauma.

Life can be challenging and hard all on its own, but people do not have to do it alone!  Someone can consider working with a trauma and resilience coach if they want to explore how past traumatic experiences influence their current life, develop coping strategies for managing triggers, enhance their emotional resilience, and pursue healing and personal growth in a safe and supportive setting.
